Add Daily Writing into Your CKLA Knowledge Lessons with Ease!

CKLA Knowledge units have such interesting concepts in their daily lessons. My students always have wonderful conversations, and make great connections afterwards. During year two, I noticed they weren't retaining all of that information throughout the year, so I decided to add daily writing into each unit.

Most of the writing is in the form of student books. I love student books for 3 reasons: 

1. They are easy to pass out, and store, each day. No more piles of writing pages all over the room.

2. A fast way to check in on their handwriting, punctuation, and the progress they are making in writing. This is very helpful during report card time, or for meetings with families.

3. They end up with a wonderful book they can take home to share with their families that showcases all they have learned!

In the beginning of the year, we complete these books together, in a shared writing format.

Then, as the year progresses, most of my students gradually release into independent writing!

These books have been a HUGE hit in my class for the past 4 years. They love seeing what the next book looks like, and it has helped them retain a lot more information.
