CKLA Skills spelling trees have always helped my students understand that different words have different spellings for sounds. Some years I have made leaves that my students place on the trees. Other times they tell me the branch and spell it, while I record it on our tree.
CKLA Knowledge units have such interesting concepts in their daily lessons. My students always have wonderful conversations, and make great connections afterwards. During year two, I noticed they weren't retaining all of that information throughout the year, so I decided to add daily writing into each unit.
This year I moved to a new classroom on the other side of our building. My new room is quite lovely, but I would no longer have a bathroom in my room.
