Sustainable Oral Care Swaps

For the past 5 years I have been swapping out wasteful items in my life, and switching over to more sustainable items. I wanted to start sharing some of my favorites with you!

Sustainable Swaps Oral Care Edition

I started changing over my oral care items first, mostly because the amount of floss and toothbrushes I went through a year was staggering. Note, all links are Amazon affiliate links, thanks for supporting my blog!

Bamboo Toothbrushes

I love my bamboo toothbrush, the bristles are soft and it has a comfortable handle.

Bamboo is naturally antimicrobial, which slows the growth of bacteria, so it is always a great option when you are looking for sustainable items.

Composting is not something that is easily available in my area, but I love that the brushes are compostable.

Glass Floss Dispenser

Glass Floss Dispenser

I floss often, so this was one item that I knew I needed to replace for sure. I bought 2 of these glass dispensers (one stays in my travel kit). I have used them for about 5 years now with no problems. The containers are easy to refill too!

I like the dental lace refills, it slides nicely and is very gentle on my gums.

Tongue Scraper

Stainless Steel Tongue Scraper

This stainless steel tongue scraper does a great job and is easy to clean. Way better (and more affordable) than using disposable ones too. This tongue scraper cuts down on my need for mouthwash, which helps to cutdown on plastic waste too.

The best part about all of these is the lack of plastic on the packaging. They all come in easy to recycle cardboard packages!

My next quest is to find a sustainable toothpaste and mouthwash. I like that Tom's lets you recycle their tubes now - but it still generates a lot of garbage.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a toothpaste I can try?
